Why This Matters

If you’ve ever thought:

“Why does it feel like she’s always in our marriage?”

“I wish he had my back.”

“I don’t want to be the bad guy, but I’m tired of feeling like the outsider.”

…then you need to be in this room. Because the truth is, this dynamic doesn’t fix itself. But it can be repaired—with the right conversations, the right boundaries, and the right team approach. I’ll show you exactly how.

Hi, I'm Dr. Tracy

Author | Psychologist | Relationship Expert

I’m a clinical psychologist, couples therapist, and relationship expert who’s spent the last 18 years helping people navigate marriage, in-laws, and everything in between. I’ve worked with hundreds of couples to break unhealthy patterns, set boundaries, and finally feel like a united front.

And yes—Greg and I have had our own mother-in-law moments… and I know how freeing it is when you finally get on the same page.

For nearly 20 years, I’ve sat with couples in the thick of it—through resentment, disconnection, and yes, those complicated in-law dynamics. As a clinical psychologist and couples therapist, I’ve made it my mission to take what works in the therapy room and bring it into your home in ways that feel doable, supportive, and real.

I created Be Connected, a digital membership to help people access the tools and conversations we should’ve learned long ago. My work has been featured in places like The New York Times, Forbes, and TIME, but the most meaningful work happens here—with you. I’m also the author of I Didn’t Sign Up for This and the host of the top 100 mental health podcast Dear Dr. Tracy podcast, where I talk about the real, messy, beautiful work of staying connected.

I live in Ottawa with my husband Greg and our two kids. And when I’m not writing or recording, you’ll find me curled up with a book, out for a walk with my Westie, or talking about the invisible mental load we all carry

Your mother-in-law did it one way. And now you're choosing different. And that's where the tension begins. Perhaps you find yourself trapped in a cycle with your mother-in-law, feeling like either a victim or a villain no matter what you do.  You can learn how to step outside the the victim/villain binary and forge a healthy relationship with your mother-in-law that aligns with and prioritizes your marriage and overall well-being.
